Bit9, a Waltham, Mass.-based provider of enterprise application whitelisting, has raised $34.5 million in new VC funding. Sequoia Capital led the round, and was joined by return backers Atlas Venture, Highland Capital Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and .406 Ventures. The company previously raised over $38 million. www.bit9.com

Impinj Inc., a Seattle-based provider of UHF RFID solutions, has raised $21 million in seventh-round VC funding. Return backers include AllianceBernstein, ARCH Venture Partners, GF Private Equity Group, Intel Corp., Madrona Venture Group, Mobius Venture Capital and Polaris Venture Partners. The company also is keeping the round open for an additional $3 million, and has withdrawn registration for a $100 million IPO (originally filed in April 2011). www.impinj.com

Netpulse, a San Francisco-based personalized media platform for active-lifestyle consumers, has raised $15.6 million in Series C funding. August Capital led the round, and was joined by return backers Javelin Venture Partners, DFJ Frontier and Parkview Ventures. www.netpulse.com

Contrail Systems, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based developer of a virtualized network control solution, has raised $10 million in Series A funding from Khosla Ventures and an undisclosed strategic backer.www.contrailsystems.com

WordStream Inc., a Boston-based provider of search engine marketing software and services for small and medium-sized businesses, has raised $6 million in third-round funding from insiders Sigma + Partners and Egan-Managed Capital. The company previously raised $10 million.www.wordstream.com

Adapx, a Seattle-based developer of data capture and collaboration solutions, has raised $3 million in new VC funding. Return backers include OVP Venture Partners, Paladin Capital Group, Pelion Ventures and Northwest Tech Ventures. www.adapx.com

Olapic, a New York-based company that lets brands collect fan photos for their own sites, has raised $1 million in Series A funding. Backers include Great Oaks Venture Capital, Lang Fund (Columbia University) and individual angels. www.olapic.com

Skift, a travel intelligence media startup from PaidContent founder Rafat Ali, has launched with $500,000 in seed funding from angels like Jason Hirschhorn, Chris Ahearn, Luke Beatty and Gordon Crovitz.www.skift.com

AdMaster, a digital marketing monitoring and analytics company with offices in San Francisco and Beijing, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series B funding. WI Harper led the round, and was joined by return backer GSR Ventures. www.admaster.com.cn

BalconyTV, a Dublin-based media platform for local music artists, has raised an undisclosed amount of first-round funding from Polaris Venture PartnersLerer Ventures and Greycroft Partners.
