A-Gas International, a portfolio company of British buyout firm LDC, has acquired Reclamation Technologies Inc., a Bowling Green, Ohio–based provider of halocarbon management and sustainability solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. Brown Gibbons Lang & Co. managed the process. www.remtec.net

AXA Private Equity has agreed to acquire a majority stake in German clothing exporter Schustermann & Borenstein. No financial terms were disclosed, but Reuters puts the price-tag at around €300 million. www.schustermann-borenstein.de

Brentwood Associates has acquired a majority stake in Soft Surroundings, a St. Louis-based marketer and retailer ofbranded apparel, accessories, beauty products and home furnishings. No financial terms were disclosed. www.softsurroundings.com

The Carlyle Group has emerged as the high bidder for DuPont's (NYSE: DD) car paint unit, according to Reuters. Carlyle reportedly offered more than $4.5 billion for the unit – an offer that rival Apollo Global Management reportedly refused to match or best. KKR and Onex Corp., who had been working together on a joint bid, already dropped out of the process. www.carlyle.com

Centerbridge Partners has acquired Cardinal Logistics Management, a Concord, N.C.–based provider of third-party logistics and transportation solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. www.cardlog.com

Norwest Equity Partners has acquired a majority stake in Stanton Carpet Corp., a Syosset, N.Y.–based distributor of soft floor covering products for the residential market. No financial terms were disclosed. www.stantoncarpet.com

Sycamore Partners has completed its $391 million acquisition of fashion retailer Talbot's. www.talbots.com
