Nutanix, a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of compute and storage infrastructure for enterprise-class virtualization, has raised $33 million in Series C funding. Battery Ventures and Goldman Sachs were joined by return backers Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures. The company previously raised more than $38 million. www.nutanix.com

Renmatix
, a King of Prussia, Penn.-based maker of cellulosic sugars, has raised $25 million in additional Series C funding from Waste Management Inc., according to VentureWire. The round total is now $75 million, including an earlier $50 million close from firms like BASF and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. www.renmatix.com

CouchSurfing
, a San Francisco-based social travel network, has raised $15 million in new VC funding. General Catalyst Partners led the round, and was joined by Menlo Ventures and return backers Benchmark Capital and Omidyar Network. The company previously raised $7.6 million. www.couchsurfing.com

Typesafe
, a Cambridge, Mass.-based provider of development tools for programming languages , has raised $14 million in Series B funding. Shasta Ventures led the round, and was joined by Juniper Networks and return backers Greylock Partners and Francois Stieger. www.typesafe.com

Ness Computing, a personalized search engine, has raised $15 million in Series B funding. SingTel Innov8 led the round, and was joined by American Express Ventures and an affiliate of the LeFrak Organization. The xcompany previously raised $5 million from Khosla Ventures, Alsop Louie Partners, TomorrowVentures, Bullpen Capital and individual angels. www.likeness.com

Vicarious, a Union City, Calif.-based artificial intelligence research company, has raised $15 million in Series A funding. Good Ventures led the round, and was joined by firms like Founders Fund and Open Field Capital. www.vicarious.com

Kymeta, an Intellectual Ventures spinout focused on mobile satellite broadband access, has raised $12 million in new VC funding. Backers include Bill Gates, Liberty Global and Lux Capital. www.kymeta.com

Revel Touch, a Los Altos, Calif.-based provider of a touch-optimized shopping platform for the tablet, has raised $10 million in Series A funding co-led by Foundation Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners. www.reveltouch.com

Oversight Systems, an Atlanta-based continuous analysis platform for big data, has raised $8.25 million in new VC funding from Westbury Investment Partners and Fifth Third Capital Holdings. www.oversightsystems.com

FutureAdvisor, a Seattle-based online investment advisor, has raised $5 million in Series A funding from Sequoia Capital. www.futureadvisor.com

Twice, a San Francisco-based concierge-style marketplace for secondhand fashion, has raised $4 million in Series A funding. IA Ventures led the round, and was joined by Felicis Ventures,Lerer Ventures, SV Angel, CrunchFund, High Line Venture Partners and individual angels. www.liketwice.com
