Transphorm Inc., a Goleta, Calif.-based developer of developer of power conversion technology,, has raised $35 million in Series E funding. Innovation Network Corporation of Japan and Nihon Inter Electronics Co. co-led the round, and were joined by return backers Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Foundation Capital, Google Ventures, Quantum Strategic Partners, Lux Capital and Bright Capital.www.transphormusa.com

DataStax, a San Mateo, Calif.-based big data platform for enterprise applications, has raised $25 million in Series C funding. Meritech Capital Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Lightspeed Venture Partners and Crosslink Capital. www.datastax.com

Definiens AG, a German provider of image analysis for digital pathology, has raised €10 million in new VC funding. Gilde Healthcare Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers TVM and Cipio Partners. www.Definiens.com
