Softbank is in talks to acquire around a two-thirds stake in Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) for approximately $12.8 billion, according to Japanese press reports.

A.I.A. Group, an Asian insurer partially owned by AIG, has agreed to acquire the Malaysian insurance unit of ING for €1.34 billion. www.ing.com

Edwards Lifesciences Corp. (NYSE: EW) has acquired BMEYE, a Dutch developer of non-invasive technology for advanced hemodynamic monitoring. No financial terms were disclosed. BMEYE had raised VC funding from firms like 360 Capital Partners, Earlybird Venture Capital, Life Sciences Partners and Net Partners. www.bmeye.com

Platts, a unit of McGraw-Hill Cos. (NYSE: MHP) has agreed to acquire Kingsman SA, a Switzerland-based provider of price information and analytics for the global sugar and biofuels markets. No financial terms were disclosed. www.kingsman.com
