Shire PLC (LSE: SHP) has agreed to acquire SARcode Bioscience Inc., a Brisbane, Calif.-based ophthalmic biopharmaceutical company. The deal includes a $160 million upfront payment plus undisclosed milestone payments. SARcode has raised around $73 million in VC funding from Alta Partners, Clarus Ventures, Rho Ventures and Sofinnova Ventures. www.sarcode.com

Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO) has agreed to acquire Summly, a mobile app for simplifying content consumption. No financial terms were disclosed. Summly backers included Horizons Ventures. www.yahoo.com

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) has acquired WiFiSlam, a Palo Alto, Calif.–based indoor GPS startup, for a reported $19.5 million in cash and stock. www.apple.com

PolyOne Corp.
(NYSE: POL) has agreed to sell its base resin assets to Mexichem for $250 million in cash. www.mexichem.com

Tibco Software (Nasdaq: TIBX) has acquired Maporama Solutions, a French provider of location intelligence and geospatial analytics solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. www.tibco.com
