CaptureEx-Kleiner Perkins partner heads to social news site.

FORTUNE -- Ellen Pao has a new job, nearly one year after suing her former partners at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers for gender discrimination and retaliation. And it's not at another VC shop. Instead, she's joining social news board Reddit as head of strategic partnerships.

Pao confirmed the move, which was first announced on the Reddit blog by company CEO Yishan Wong. He referred to Pao as a longtime Reddit "lurker," who also has spent the past year as both a formal and informal company advisor.

In the post, Pao offered the following statement to Reddit users:

"I grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey, raised by enginerds on Star Wars, computers and books. I live in San Francisco, via New York City, Boston and Hong Kong. I've worked with dozens of tech companies, traveling to eleven countries on five continents, to help build a variety of consumer and business platform companies. My favorite subreddits are /r/IAmA and /r/pareidolia (I like people even when they're not real). Being part of a community of people who care is inspiring and energizing. reddit has so much to offer so many people, and I'm excited to find partners to help make reddit even more awesome."

As for the Kleiner Perkins lawsuit, things currently are at a bit of a standstill. Kleiner Perkins has appealed a judge's ruling that the case should proceed to trial, rather than to arbitration. A case management conference is now scheduled for June 12 in San Francisco Superior Court.
