Tokai Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Cambridge, Mass.-based developer of prostate cancer drugs, has raised $35.5 million in Series E funding. Return backers included Apple Tree Partners and Novartis Venture Fundshttp://www.tokaipharmaceuticals.com

Privalia Venta Directa, a Spanish online private sales site, has raised €25 million in new VC funding. Sofina (Belgium) was joined by return backers Highland Capital Partners, General Atlantic, Insight Venture Partners, La Caixa Capital Risc, Index Ventures and Nauta Capital. The company previously raised around €158 million. www.privalia.com

Acacia Communications, a Maynard, Mass.-based provider of transceivers for ultra-high speed fiber optic transmission to the telecom infrastructure industry, has raised $20 million in new VC funding.Summit Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Matrix Partners, Commonwealth Capital Ventures and Egan Managed Capital. www.acacia-inc.com

Atlantis Computing, a Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of data center storage optimization solutions, has raised $20 million in Series D funding. Adams Street Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Cisco Systems, El Dorado Ventures and Partech International.www.atlantiscomputing.com

PernixData Inc., a San Jose, Calif.-based maker of a software-defined storage platform that virtualized server-side flash, has raised $20 million in Series B funding. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers led the round, and was joined by return backer Lightspeed Venture Partners. www.pernixdata.com

Airware, a developer of an operating system and other components for commercial drones, has raised $10.7 million in Series A funding. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, and was joined by Google Ventures. www.airware.com

Updater, a New York-based solution for letting users update all of their personal accounts and records when relocating, has raised $5 million in Series A funding led by Softbank Capital and IA Ventureswww.updater.com

Skift, a travel industry-focused content site, has raised $1.1 million in new seed funding led by Lerer Ventures. www.skift.com

OpenCoin, an open-source virtual currency exchange, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Google Ventures and China's IDG Capital Partnerswww.opencoin.com
