Carl Icahn joins Twitter

Carl Icahn goes short-form.

FORTUNE -- Famed activist investor Carl Icahn joined Twitter earlier today, apparently hoping that the rhetorical brickbats of his shareholder letters can be conveyed in 140 characters.

Hopefully this goes a bit better than Icahn's earlier blogging attempts back in 2008, which were ultimately foiled by overactive lawyers.

Here was his opening salvo:

Icahn assistant Susan Gordon confirmed the account's legitimacy to Fortune. Could be interesting to see if @MichaelDell chooses to respond...
