Enerkem, Montreal-based provider of synthetic gas and other alternative fuels, has raised C$50 million in new equity funding. Investissement Québec was joined by return backers Waste Management of Canada, Rho Ventures, Braemar Energy Ventures, The Westly Group, Cycle Capital, Fonds de solidarité FTQ and Fondaction. The company has now raised more than C$200 million in total funding.www.enerkem.com

Firebase, a San Francisco-based app-development platform, has raised $5.6 million in Series A funding from Flybridge Capital Partners and Union Square Ventureswww.firebase.com

Adeven, a Berlin-based mobile advertising analytics and tracking platform, has raised $4.3 million in Series B funding. Capnamic Ventures and Iris Capital were joined by return backer Target Partners.www.adeven.com
