Senior Google exec and private equity titan join Uber board of directors.
FORTUNE -- On-demand car service Uber is adding a pair of heavy hitters to its board of directors, in conjunction with a new $360 million fundraise led by Google Ventures and TPG Capital.
Fortune has learned from multiple sources that David Drummond, Google's (GOOG) chief legal officer and senior VP of corporate development, and TPG Capital co-founder David Bonderman have agreed to join the Uber board.
This would appear to be the first time that Drummond has joined a board on behalf of Google Ventures. He does sit on the board of Google Ventures portfolio company Rocket Lawyer, but took that seat before Google Ventures was even created.
The 71 year-old Bonderman would seem to be an unusual choice, but he does have tech experience (Hotwire, Seagate, Veritas Software) and even some vehicle industry knowledge (Ducati). More importantly, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick is said to admire Bonderman for both his success and unconventional thinking.
Both Uber and Google Ventures declined to comment on either the fundraising or board additions. TPG has not yet responded to offer their own "no comment."
