Capstone Partners founder Tripp Brower passes away

FORTUNE -- Frank "Tripp" Brower, founder of private equity placement agency Capstone Partners, has passed away at the age of 53. He had been diagnosed 16 months ago with multiple myeloma cancer.

Brower founded Dallas-based Capstone back in 2001, and helped raise billions of dollars for private equity and venture capital firms like Milestone Partners, Morgan Stanley Credit Partners, Platte River Ventures and Industry Ventures.

He previously served as an executive VP with Offroad Capital and as co-head of the private funds group at Stephens Inc. Brower also spent time at J.P. Morgan & Co. and founded Stonebridge Partners .

A memorial service will be held between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday, October 26 at the Crosspoint Church in McKinney, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Tripp's family asks that donations may be made to the Tripp Brower Memorial Fund to support several of his favorite charities. Donations may be sent to Tripp Brower Memorial Fund, c/o Capstone Partners, 13355 Noel Road, Suite 1050, Dallas, TX  75240.
