Is there a real company called Skynet?

FORTUNE -- Every time a technology company like Google gets deeper into artificial technology, there are jokes about how they're trying to replicate Skynet -- the AI system that becomes self-aware (and a bit murder-y) in The Terminator film franchise.

But is it possible that some Silicon Valley entrepreneurs are, at least, looking to use the Skynet name?

Earlier today, Valleywag published a confidential list of attendees at today's SV Angel CEO Summit. Included were the following two names:

Haleem's LinkedIn profile lists him as co-founder and COO of a "secret startup," after previously having served as co-founder and chief technical officer at now-defunct social gaming startup Diversion Inc. Carey appears to be an engineer whose GitHub profile includes contributions to a "Skynet" repository."

Now, before you go searching for a bunker, all of this seems to be related to an open-source project that helps developers manage service discovery and announcement -- such as when a data-center dies but doesn't tell everyone (thus causing developers to waste time).  In other words, not the sort of thing that should set the stage for robot Armageddon. Plus, a source familiar with the situation thinks Skynet is more of a placeholder name right now for Haleem and Carey's new company.

Got to wonder if Cyberdyne Systems is available...
